On the second day of Triton’s Vietnam No Limit Hold’em Main Event, the original field of 62 was reduced to to nine. Daniel Smiljkovic, who had the most chips after Day 1, dropped to third place after Day 2.
Nevertheless, Talal Shakerchi outpaced Smiljkovic, moving from sixth to first in chips from Day 1 to Day 2.
During a heated preflop battle with Sam Grafton, who eventually went out in 16th position, Adrian Mateos shot up the scoreboard. Grafton four-bet all-in from under the gun with pocket jacks, but Mateos’ aces made the call for a pot worth almost $2.6 million.
The tournament’s final table bubble was Lun Loon. In the short blind, his ace-nine suited lost to Fedor Holz’s pocket nines, and no ace showed up on the board.
After three days of play, the top stacks have been amassed by Shakerchi, Smiljkovic, Mateos, and Holz. So, they will be the presumptive champions.
The last nine players will compete in a Triton Main Event with a $100,000 buy-in for the largest possible prize pool. There were a record 135 entrants. On Friday at 1:00 p.m. local time, they’ll play to a conclusion.
