What does bumhunting mean in poker?

Bumhunters are a kind of poker players that like to seat at tables with weak players, known as “fish” in poker parlance.

Bumhunters seek for weak players and will only seat at the table if they are available. Hands in which only strong opponents whose level is equal to or higher than the “hunter’s” do not pique the attention of such players, therefore they abandon unsuitable tables and look for prey.

Bumhunters often participate in heads-up cash games, where they almost never give the fish a chance to rescue his money. Do not assume that only middle-class peasants engage in such practices. In reality, even the most prominent poker players sometimes go fishing. These moves enable them to stabilize their own game bank.
